Thanks!

My mother is from Enns. She married an American and we all were born either in Germany or Austria. For an easy "A" in school, we all took German. When we would mispronounce a word or use a word that we felt was acceptable in our "german" class, my mother had to make more than one trip into school to explain to an American teacher from Alabama that we were correct and she was simply wrong. I visited Germany and Austria 5 years ago, after a 35 year absence. I've never laughed harder at the Austrian phrases..."hast ein vogel?" Why no, no I do not have a bird! And what exactly is a "fetsen." HA! I love the Austrian "sing/song" cadence and love to hear my mother and other native Austrians speak. I wish I had the strong dialect to speak with confidence. Ah well, I will just listen and smile and always carry my piece of Austrian close to my heart!
